Today’s first caller asked a really interesting question. Is it a good idea to use invest in real estate overseas, especially if you plan on moving overseas? I’m answering this question and more on today’s show!

My Thoughts on Investing Strategically Overseas

I love this idea of considering where you want to invest and where you want to live. Many people don’t consider these possibilities, so kudos to you for thinking more broadly! I would recommend checking out my friend, Nomad Capitalist. His philosophy is “go where you’re treated best,” and his company offers solutions for anyone who wants to live and/or do business abroad.

Here are a couple things to consider: the US is going to want to collect taxes from you, regardless of your location. Also, there are some countries that offer citizenship through investing, so I’d urge you to look into those options.

What to Consider About a HELOC Payoff Strategy

In my book, How to Pay Off Your Mortgage in 5 Years, you’ll learn about how to use a HELOC strategically. This method involves setting up your direct deposit directly to the HELOC. I know this sounds technical, but it’s a great way to pay off your mortgage and/or buy rental properties.

How to Approach Different Investment Types

For starters, I think most investment types can be profitable. However, I would be wary of different types of investments, especially if you’re just starting out. I would much rather invest in single-family housing and work with a property management team. This is a proven strategy, and many investors are successful in doing this.
