What’s Happening in the Multifamily Space
Surprisingly, reports are showing positive numbers. Many collections are only down a few percentage points. Across the board in the multifamily space, there have been a strong number of collections on loans. There is also a high availability to lending programs for multifamily investors.
How Lending Has Shifted This Year
At the beginning too the pandemic, it was nearly impossible to close loans. But once the government stepped in with liquidity in March, banks were able to resume lending. Banks are still lending, despite changes in the economy. Additionally, there are a ton of programs available to those who have cash on hand.
What We Can Expect on the Residential Side of Lending
Although Anton doesn’t focus on residential lending, her expects that high unemployment rates will lead to a slowdown on the residential side of lending. Fewer buyers will be able to qualify for loans, and we can expect unconventional lenders to tighten their restrictions as well.
