Many people who I speak to about real estate investing are interested in purchasing properties, but they aren’t sure how to begin. I commonly hear that real estate investing is a privilege held for those with excellent credit scores, or an enormous amount of money put away in a bank account. This is a huge misconception!
In order to bust that myth, I’m sitting down with real estate investor and lender Jeff House. Jeff is here to explain exactly how you can find and appeal to private investors. You don't want to miss episode 14 of Investing in Real Estate!
Jeff House is fully immersed into the world of real estate. After college, he worked as a commercial real estate advisor under an experienced mentor. Jeff calls this time in his life a great learning experience, as he got to witness everything on the broker side of real estate.
He was first exposed to personal real estate investing when his partner purchased a duplex as an owner-occupant. By collecting rent from one tenant, he was able to pay his mortgage. This venture eventually snowballed, and Jeff’s partner grew an enormous portfolio.
This experience inspired Jeff to begin his own journey into real estate investing. He was only in his early 20’s when he began acquiring his own buy and hold properties.
However, he didn’t have a lot of to put toward a down payment. Additionally, his income was commission-based, which wasn’t in his favor when it came to private lending.
On today’s show, Jeff shares how he leveraged his first few deals under less than ideal circumstances. He explains the difference between institutional and private lending, and when you should utilize each resource.
Jeff has a wealth of knowledge about the realm of private investing. He gives advice on how to establish long-term relationships with lenders, setting up deals, and why private lending can be a great option in your business.
