This holiday season, our family watched a classic Christmas film, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Natali and I both felt like we were viewing the movie with a new perspective this time. It might not be obvious, but there is a parallel between the storyline and the power of real estate investing.
On this episode of Investing in Real Estate, I’m expressing the importance of not being solely a paycheck employee like Clark Griswold. I’ll share the risks of relying on the hope of a year-end bonus, and how real estate investing can help you reach financial freedom. Please join me on episode 96 of Investing in Real Estate.
More About This Show
In case you haven’t seen National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, it’s one chapter in a series of films about a family that always has disastrous vacations. In this specific movie, Clark Griswold, the father, wants to surprise his family with a swimming pool for Christmas. However, Clark can’t afford the swimming pool outright, and he’s hanging on to the hope of a Christmas Bonus.
For a paycheck-only employee, this is a likely story. You work hard, 40 hours a week for mediocre results. And maybe, just maybe, if you’re lucky, you’ll be thrown an occasional bone.
And that’s where real estate investing comes in. It’s a chance to earn a passive income and accrue legacy wealth for your family. Not necessarily so you can make lavish purchases, but so that you can live comfortably. Real estate has allowed many investors the freedom of enjoying the holidays, without having to stress about money.
Watching this movie was incredibly timely for me, because I have recently heard from some new investors who faced their fears and took action. And they are so glad they did. Don't be a Clark Griswold. Don't let your experiences hang in the balance of a year-end bonus. Take action, and start investing!
